We’ve all heard of cricket flour before right?
When I received the email regarding trying out some Crobar* energy bars I was sceptical. It’s not something that I’d heard of before and to be quite frank it sounded a bit odd. Having said that, once I’d looked into it more I decided to give it a go.
My husband and I are always on the hunt for new things to try to stick to our healthier lifestyles so it would be silly to turn the opportunity away really. Here is how we got on and a little about the Crobar* bars and why you should try them too.
BUT, IT’S MADE FROM CRICKET FLOUR?
Yes, but it also boasts all of the following:
- protein rich
- dairy free
- gluten free
- paleo friendly
- no added sugar
Created by Christine Spliid, the idea of the crobar energy bars came from her passion for endurance running, travelling and leading a healthy lifestyle, which I’m sure you can agree is a goal for many of us in this day and age.
WHY IT’S GOOD FOR YOU
- Animal sourced dietary protein is superior to that derived from plants
- Crickets contain twice as much iron as spinach (Who knew!)
- Contains half the fat of beef and counts towards your daily dose of B12
IT’S ALSO GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
- less food waste
- less air and water pollution
- better animal welfare
- lower risk of diseases
Obviously if you head over to the website here*, it explains all of this in much more detail.
I really enjoyed trying our the four flavours they have to offer, they are a great alternative to the usual protein bars that I carry around with me. Plus they taste great too. My favourite was the peanut and cricket flour one. I was surprised by this myself being a ridiculous chocolate fan.
I also checked out the costs of the bars, you can get 20 in a box for £35.99 which seems to be the most cost effective option on the website compared to other companies that offer protein bars. In fact, on some websites buying a single protein bar can cost £2.99 so it’s a pretty good deal if you ask me!
What have you been trying and loving lately?
