The crickets are used as one of the main ingredients as they offer a healthy protein, the crickets are ground into a fine flour and mixed in with nuts and cocoa etc.
Available in 2 flavours; Cacao & Chia and Peanut Crunch.
A health-conscious energy bar with a difference, but tastes quite nice. You can’t taste the crickets – although I have no idea what a cricket would taste like, but what I mean is, it tastes normal – if that is the right word to use? I was nervous trying it at first, I really didn’t know what to expect, not good things, but, in the end, I was pleasantly surprised. The way I describe it to people is, it tastes like what a natural healthy bar tastes like, a soft and crunchy texture. Overall, a little different, but pleasant to eat.
These are just some of the benefits Cricket Flour can offer you:
- As high in protein as beef (60 g per 100 gram)
- Contain all 9 essential amino acids
- 3 x more iron, 5 x more magnesium and 2 x more zinc than beef
- High levels of Vitamin B12, which is not obtainable from plant
Part of the reason for the higher micronutrient content of insects compared to meat, is that they are eaten whole, including muscle tissues, exo skeleton etc.
I really encourage anyone to buy one and try for yourself, they are full of goodness and are great for a snack.
